Tallin Black Nights Opens a Virtual Cinema After Cinema Closures in Estonia
Our friends at Tallinn Black Nights (PÖFF) in Estonia have such a challenge, facing cinema chain closures this month due to the pandemic. They started with a kick-off event which will screen five films of the Women s Nights Film Festival. Every month, PÖFF s online cinema will be displaying a new selection of films from previous festival editions.
Due to the pandemic, we screened a large part of our programme online during last year s PÖFF and it turned out to be very popular. For the first time, those who live far from the cities Tallinn and Tartu had the opportunity to take part in the festival and this is what really inspired us, said the festival director Tiina Lokk.

ATLANTA (The Borowitz Report) Republicans in the Georgia Senate passed a new bill that would allow some voting in certain situations.
Senator Harland Dorrinson, who sponsored the bill, said that the legislation stopped short of other Republican proposals that would have banned voting altogether, but was still “a good step forward.”
“Under this bill, voting in Georgia will be legal but rare,” he said. “This legislation will stop the runaway growth in voting.”
Dorrinson said that the bill would prevent a repeat of what happened during the January runoffs, when “voting was allowed to spiral out of control.”

The best-remembered gag from The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin is – almost 45 years since it first aired – still very funny. Sure, that hippo trots right into the category of standard Seventies mother-in-law material, but there’s really nothing standard about The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, which is now being repeated on BBC Four after being absent from our screens for decades.
Though set in the leafy south London suburb of ‘Climthorpe’, it’s not a cosy living room comedy; nor a sitcom in which the characters’ weekly schemes revert, as most sitcoms do, to a familiar status quo before the following week’s episode.
